TempleGo (“we”, “us”) is a mobile app that helps people explore Hong Kong temple culture, kau cim (fortune stick) traditions, and cultural readings of fortune slips. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

1. Guest First
You can use most of TempleGo without creating an account. In guest mode we identify your device session with a random anonymous ID stored on your device so that local history, favourites, and daily AI usage limits work. That ID is not your name or email.
Optional sign-in (for example Google) links your journey to an account so timeline, favourites, and saved temples can sync across devices.
2. Information we collect
You provide: feedback (category, message, optional reply email); account identifiers from your auth provider if you sign in; photos or camera frames you choose for fortune OCR.
From use: local fortune timeline and favourites (and cloud copies if signed in); AI interpretation requests and daily usage / bonus unlock counters; app and reading language preferences.
Automatically: product analytics via PostHog when configured; AdMob device/ad data when you watch an optional rewarded ad for an extra AI credit.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. How we use information
We use information to provide temple guides, fortune culture features, OCR, and AI cultural readings; enforce daily free AI limits and optional ad bonus unlocks; sync history when you sign in; respond to feedback; measure product quality and fix bugs; and comply with law.
4. AI cultural readings
TempleGo’s AI explains traditional / cultural meanings of fortune slips for learning and entertainment. It does not predict the future, guarantee outcomes, or replace professional, medical, legal, or religious advice.
5. Permissions
Camera and Photos are requested only when you use scan / OCR features. Other OS permissions appear only when a feature needs them.
6. Sharing
We share data with processors who help run the app, including Supabase (auth, database, Edge Functions), AI providers via our backend, PostHog (when enabled), Google AdMob (when you watch an ad), and email delivery for feedback. We may disclose information if required by law.
7. Retention
Guest local data stays on your device until you clear it or uninstall. Cloud history for signed-in users is kept while the account exists. Feedback is kept as needed to respond. Usage counters reset on a daily schedule for quotas.
8. Your choices
Use the app as a guest; clear timeline or favourites in Settings; sign out or delete account if signed in; decline camera/photo access; skip rewarded ads and keep only the free daily AI quota.
9. Children
TempleGo is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). Do not use the app if you are under that age.
10. International processing
Data may be processed in Hong Kong and other regions where our providers operate (cloud hosting, AI, analytics, ads).
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
